Insurance Reimbursement for Telemental Health Counseling Sessions

Many health insurance companies now cover Telemental Health Counseling.  Most insurance plans are making exceptions and are covering Telemental Health Video Counseling during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In Maryland, section 15-139 of the Insurance Article mandates that carriers who offer health benefit plans in the State of Maryland provide coverage for telehealth.

However, this law only applies to plans that are regulated by the State of Maryland. This means individual, small group and fully-insured large group plans. The law does not apply to employer-sponsored self-funded plans. Most people are covered by self-funded plans through their employers. It also does not apply to out-of-state plans. Therefore, it is important to call your insurance company to verify your Telemental Health benefits.

I am in-network with the following insurance companies:

1) Aetna

2) Carefirst BCBS

3) Magellan

4) Cigna

*If you are a COVID-Patient in a hospital, care facility, or at home and I am not in-network with your insurance, then I am willing to provide sessions at a reduced cost on a case-by-case basis. *
